Advocate with WCTA

Since 1921, WCTA leaders have advocated for teachers in Washington County. Over these 100+ years, teaching and learning expectations have evolved, and the tools that we use to teach have changed radically. And yet, an excellent teacher still has the same goals set before us: teach the children what they need to know in order for them to be the best selves they can be for life. Students are at the center of what we do, and we are grateful for the opportunity to teach them well. To that end, we seek to teach with clarity, provide quality, supportive feedback, scaffold students’ learning when necessary, and develop positive student-teacher relationships. WCTA leaders know that in order for teachers to accomplish this work, teachers need supportive, safe environments that provide them with the tools they need to put students first.  We look forward to continuing this advocacy and to continuing the work required to ensure that all students in Washington County receive high quality educational environments and opportunities everyday.
