Invitation

We hope that you will accept this invitation to participate in the WCTA-WCPS Phone-Free Schools Forum on Thursday, June 4, 2026, in the Board Auditorium at CES, from 4-6 PM.  At this forum, WCTA Members will provide input on local implementation of the Maryland Phone-Free Schools Act.

The goal of the forum is to gather practical, school level and classroom-based input from WCTA members regarding implementation of Maryland’s new Phone-Free Schools Act and to develop teacher-informed recommendations for revisions to WCBOE Board Policy JICJ “Use of Personally-Owned Electronic Devices” and the accompanying Administrative Regulation that will govern the policy’s implementation.

Our recommendations will be provided to the Washington County Board of Education Policy Committee and the WCPS administrative leadership team. WCTA President Carol Mowen and WCPS Deputy Superintendent Dr. Gary Willow are organizing this forum and are seeking at least 1 representative from every secondary school for participation. If you are not able to participate, please refer the name of a colleague from your school in the RSVP form below so that we can follow up with that individual to seek participation for your school.
