At the Representative Council meeting held on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, WCTA reps voted to endorse two local candidates in the statewide Maryland State Education Association election that begins on January 26:
- Carol Mowen, current WCTA President, is running for the open seat for NEA Director which includes representing Maryland with the NEA and also serving as a member of the MSEA Board of Directors.
- Neil Becker, past president of WCTA and current member of the Washington County Association of Supervisors and Administrators (WCASA), is running for one of the open seats for MSEA Board Member-At-Large.
