MSEA is holding four conferences on the same Saturday this year – Saturday, February 28, 2026 – at the same location and time! Included are the Member Organizing Workshop (MOW), Early Career Educators (ECE) Conference, the Educational Support Professionals (ESP) Conference, and the Instruction and Professional Development (IPD) Conference.
All who attend will hear the same keynote speaker but have separate sessions as per the specific conference’s goals.
- The conferences are all being held at the College Park Marriott Hotel & Conference Center (3501 University Blvd East, Hyattsville, MD 20783)
- The keynote speaker is Dr. Cierra Kaler-Jones, a social justice educator, writer, scholar, and artist. Her research focuses on how to create and sustain educational spaces rooted in joy and love, while refuting control and management tactics in school that deny young people opportunities for creativity and critical consciousness-building. Dr. Kaler-Jones serves as the Director of Storytelling for Communities for Just Schools Fund, a donor collaborative that resources education justice organizers across the country.
Click on the links above for more information and to register ASAP before the conference you want to attend fills up! As of Friday, January 9, the IPD Conference is full, but you can email to get on a waiting list to attend or select a difference conference for the day.
All are open to WCTA, WCESP, and WCASA members, and Carol Mowen, WCTA President, hopes that Washington County will have many representatives attending. Members can coordinate travel and also arrange for overnight accommodations, if necessary. WCTA members who attend may request for support for mileage reimbursement. Contact Carol to request support, if needed, for your attendance.
