Sick Leave Bank Forms

WCTA manages the sick leave bank requests for employees, but WCTA does not approve leaves of absence. While WCPS and WCTA work closely together to coordinate leave coverage through the Sick Leave Bank, it is the employee’s responsibility to inform all relevant parties of the needed leave of absence. Failure to provide timely notification may result in inaccuracies in pay and/or benefits. Questions? Ask Jamie or contact your principal or HR.

Sick Leave Bank: Rules and Procedures

The purpose of the Sick Leave Bank is to provide sick leave to contributors to the bank after their accumulated sick leave has been exhausted and more specifically to provide such leave from the bank in cases of prolonged, catastrophic, incapacitating personal illness, injury, or quarantine of the teacher during the regularly scheduled duty day, which is not likely to permanently disable the teacher.  All members should be aware of the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), and we strongly suggest all members consider purchasing Long Term Disability Insurance (LTD) through the school system benefits office.

Reminder – the enrollment period for the Sick Leave Bank is August 1 – Oct. 1

Membership in the Sick Leave Bank is free to WCTA members (except for the donation of days); non-WCTA members may join the Sick Leave Bank but must pay an administration fee. Please contact Jamie Barrett at the WCTA office – 301-797-7682 for more information.

For details about the “Rules and Procedures” that govern the Sick Leave Bank, please see SickLeaveBank2018Rev.
