Amanda Kline, a WCPS teacher at Boonsboro Middle and member of WCTA who volunteers with the Lifehouse Church of Hagerstown, contacted WCTA Teacher Closet Coordinator Giovanni Grimm last week with a surprise: 56 boxes of various supplies for teachers. The boxes are now available for teacher “shopping” at the WCTA office on Oak Ridge Drive.
“We are so grateful for the donations of supplies for our teachers,” said Mary Heeringa, WCTA’s UniServ Director who coordinated the drop-off with Grimm and Kline. “The boxes, most of which have never been opened, are labeled with their contents for easy shopping. They contain liquid glue, glue sticks, and scissors as well as other items for classroom use,” she said.
Office Manager Jamie Barrett is organizing the closet in the front lobby of the office. It will be available most days this week from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM and can be opened at other hours on request. Teachers can message Carol Mowen, WCTA president, or call the office before stopping in. The closet will remain open while supplies last.
