Advocacy in Action

Thank you for your interest in advocating for honest, equitable, and adequately funded local public schools for students of the Washington County. You can raise your voice in support by providing public comments at meetings, emailing family and friends with your perspectives and recommendations, posting comments and correcting misinformation on social media, and by writing letters to the editor of local newspapers.

WCTA President Carol Mowen has adapted materials from the Public School Strong” Campaign Materials created by The HEAL Together Initiative to develop local training materials specific to Washington County. See this document for “Information about How to Provide Public Comment to Public Officials” that provides links and details about meetings of the Washington County Board of Education and the Washington County’s Board of County Commissioners.

On this page, WCTA is posting examples of recent public comments provided by WCTA President Carol Mowen. If you would like to have your public comments added to the page as examples for others, please email Carol or call her at the WCTA office to request a review.

Thanks!
